What is KYC Verification?

KYC (Know Your Customer) verification is a security process that confirms your identity. At AMP, we use Stripe Identity to verify users quickly and securely.

Why is KYC Required?

Identity verification is necessary for:

  • DMCA Takedown Requests: Legal takedowns require verified identity
  • Legal Protection: Establishes you as the legitimate content owner
  • Account Security: Prevents fraud and unauthorized access
  • Compliance: Meets legal requirements for content protection services

Privacy First

Your identity information is encrypted and securely stored. It's only used for verification purposes and legal takedown requests. We never share your personal information.

What You'll Need

Before starting the verification process, have ready:

  • Government-Issued ID: Passport, driver's license, or national ID card
  • Good Lighting: Clear photos are essential for verification
  • Smartphone or Webcam: For taking photos of your ID
  • 5-10 Minutes: The process is quick and straightforward

Verification Process

Step 1: Access Verification

After subscribing to a plan:

  1. Navigate to your Dashboard or Account Settings
  2. Look for the "Complete KYC Verification" prompt
  3. Click "Start Verification"

You'll be redirected to Stripe Identity's secure verification portal.

Step 2: Choose Your Document Type

Select the type of ID you'll use:

  • Passport: Accepted from all countries
  • Driver's License: Accepted in most countries
  • National ID Card: Accepted where applicable

Step 3: Capture Your ID

Follow the on-screen instructions to photograph your ID:

  1. Front of ID: Take a clear photo of the front
  2. Back of ID (if applicable): Photograph the back of your license or ID card
  3. Ensure Clarity: Make sure all text is readable and the photo is well-lit

Tips for Best Results:

  • Use good lighting (natural light works best)
  • Place ID on a contrasting background
  • Ensure all corners of the ID are visible
  • Avoid glare and shadows
  • Keep the ID flat and in focus

Step 4: Take a Selfie

Stripe Identity will ask you to take a selfie to match with your ID:

  1. Position your face in the frame
  2. Follow any on-screen instructions (turn head, blink, etc.)
  3. Ensure good lighting on your face
  4. Remove glasses if they cause glare

Step 5: Submit for Review

After capturing your ID and selfie:

  1. Review the images to ensure they're clear
  2. Click "Submit" to send for verification
  3. You'll receive a confirmation message

Verification Timeline

  • Instant Verification: Most verifications are approved within minutes
  • Manual Review: Some cases may require 24-48 hours for manual review
  • Email Notification: You'll receive an email when verification is complete

Verification Status

You can check your verification status anytime in your Account Settings under the Security section.

After Verification

Once verified:

Troubleshooting

Verification Failed

If your verification fails, common reasons include:

Poor Image Quality

  • Photos are blurry or too dark
  • ID is not fully visible in the frame
  • Glare obscures important information

Solution: Retake photos in better lighting with a steady hand

Document Not Accepted

  • ID type not supported in your country
  • ID is expired
  • Information doesn't match account details

Solution: Use a different valid ID or update your account information

Selfie Doesn't Match

  • Lighting too poor
  • Face partially obscured
  • Significant appearance change from ID photo

Need to Retry?

You can restart the verification process:

  1. Go to Account SettingsSecurity
  2. Click "Retry Verification"
  3. Follow the process again with improved photos
